Lava Shell Massage

Lava Shell Massage is new to the Redbarn. It is a type of heat treatment massage that uses warm Tiger-striped clamshells as a massage tool and has recently been dubbed “the new hot stones” by Vogue Magazine.

Heat is produced by inserting a ‘lava gel sachet’ made from a mixture of minerals, algae, salt water and essential oils causing a chemical reaction, which produces heat from within the shell. The heat produced relaxes and smooth’s away knots and also gives off calcium ions which, when heated, transfers to your skin during the massage. Calcium can help to firm and regenerate the skin –another bonus!

  • Boosts circulation of blood and lymphatic system
  • Soothe aches and pains
  • Reduces swelling and water retention
  • Relaxes you

Different areas of the Lava Shells can be used during the massage to complement particular massage strokes. The knob on the back of the shell can be used to work away at tight knots. The smooth surface of the shell is ideal for applying gentle pressure to calves and arms, and the narrow edge of the Lava Shell to work around tense shoulder blades or between your toes.
